I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I got this and while it exceeded my expectation in some ways, it was just okay in others.
Pros
-Takes quite good pictures in daytime mode
-IR mode has "zoom" capability
-Screen view in IR mode is pretty decent
-Battery life seems good
-Instructions are so so, but after using a while, things make sense.
-Micro SD was included, and easy to install and take out to transfer pics to a computer.
Cons
-Difficult to take pics in IR/nighttime mode. Gadget has to be held VERY steady or the picture will be blurry.
-No zoom in daytime mode. Manual focus, but not way to change the field of vision
-Movies in daytime mode were a bit jerky
-Using the screen as the viewfinder to a bit of getting used to. When I first got it, I thought that the round sections were where I should put my eyes, with the screen facing towards what I wanted to view. Ooops, wrong way. LOL
-Never used gadgets to view things in IR, so maybe this is normal, but there was a lot of reflection. For example, when viewing trees/bushes, the leaves would reflect a lot, resulting in a bright spot on the view finder. Have to angle where I was looking to minimize this.
Overall, this is a cool gadget at a relatively good price. Fun to use when looking at the woods at night or out camping, hunting.
